Display and Design

The Tecno Spark 4 is a smooth gem cut design that creates gentle decorations and colour variation in every angle. The panel of the phone is beautiful and radiant. It is almost as though the back of the phone contains two variations of the same colour.

For example if the panel of the phone is blue, then you’ll notice that it is almost as if the phone switches between a darker blue and a lighter one. The phone has a plastic covering which is expected of an entry level phone.

Spark 4 has some of the latest features that Tecno Mobile has added to their 2019 smartphones. At the right-hand side of the phone we have the power button keys and the volume locker keys.

On the left side of the phone we have the port for the SIM tray which houses two SIMs. The tray also comprises of a slot for a Micro SD card which can be used to increase the ROM storage of the phone.

A fingerprint sensor is also located at the back of the phone where the camera is also located. The bottom of the phone comprises the headphone jack, microphone, Micro USB, and the speaker of the phone.

Tecno Spark 4 has a dimension of 166.7 x 75.8 x 8.4mm. It also has a water drop notch on the front camera that houses a 6.53 inch IPS LCD that offer 720 x 1600 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio.

The phone has a screen to body ration of 81.2%, this is supportive for a broader experience. The display of the phone is okay for web browsing and streaming of online content as it provides proper viewing of images and videos.

Chipset and RAM

For a low-range phone, the Tecno Spark 4 is actually a good phone. I mean when it comes to fulfilling the criteria of a low-range chipset and RAM, the Tecno Spark 4 is actually good.  The RAM of the Tecno Spark 4 is 2 GB which is relatively okay for a low-range phone.

Although the phone would have made more sense to have a RAM of 3 GB, but since this is a low-range device, then it doesn’t necessarily mean that the phone is bad. 

It would be nice to know that the phone can at least support some gaming apps which have at least a 3 GB requirement; sorry to all the PUBG and Call of Duty lovers, this phone is not the phone you should be looking for if you’re hoping to get a low-end gaming phone.

Having the MediaTek company work with Tecno when it comes to developing chipsets for their devices is something that was expected. The Tecno Spark 4 comes with the MediaTek MT6761 chipset; quad-core; 1.80 GHz.

Without the chipset, the phone cannot be turned on. The MediaTek MT6761 is made up of 4 cores that are usually called quad-core by gadget gurus. The MediaTek MT6761 chipset runs with a speed of 1.80 GHz, and will not go higher than that except if overclocked.

Storage

The storage of the Tecno Spark 4 has a capacity of 32 GB which serves as a flash storage. Some applications come pre-installed on the device (System apps), and about 8 GB of RAM storage would be occupied by those apps.

If you wish to expand your storage, you can do so with the use of a micro SD card which should be 64 GB or less. The phone was not designed to support anything higher than 64 GB.

Camera

The Tecno Spark 4 camera is good, and it captures fairly quality images. The camera on the body of the phone is numbered to be four (4), one in front and one at the back of the phone.

The front camera (selfie camera) is an 8 MP camera with focus 2.0 that shoots clear images up-close. The back camera (rear camera) is also an 13 MP camera with auto-focus features, and 2 MP for wide shooting, and an extra camera for QVGA.

Battery

Tecno Spark 4 comes with a Li-Po non-removable 4000 mAh capacity battery; the battery can take an average user about 1.5 days on a single charge. 

Spark 4 doesn’t really have much battery draining functions running on it (except if installed), and the LCD screen is not exerting too much strain on the battery.

One of the major disadvantages of the phone is that the charger that comes with the phone doesn’t support fast charging.
