- MTN Manual Configuration

MTN Auto Configuration
The MTN auto configuration settings is an automatic process of configuring your MTN network settings for browsing. Here, MTN do the Internet configuration settings for you automatically without self-installation (manually).
Therefore, you can try to use the MTN autoconfiguration settings. To do this, you’re to send an SMS “SETTINGS” to MTN internet settings code number “3888” (Note, you’re to type this information without quotes).
After sending, in most cases this should take up to 5 minutes for your phone to apply these configurations automatically. When you have finally get the reverse SMS from MTN, ensure you save the settings immediately to avoid mistakes.
In some cases, MTN autoconfiguration settings will not work on your phone. This result as the phone modern can’t accept such information automatically. Nevertheless, it’s not a big deal you can still apply the configurations manually.

MTN Manual Configuration
As stated above, if you’re using an old phone that doesn’t support the MTN auto-configuration settings, the best option for you is to use the MTN manual configuration settings.
To do your MTN internet configuration settings yourself if you have a smartphone (such as Android, Microsoft, iOS, MiFi etc), use these options:
MTN Internet Settings for Android
First, you have to do the following below:
- Go to Setting on your smartphone
- Click on Network & internet
- Navigate and click more Network or Mobile Network
- Click on Access Point Names
Note, if you phone featured two SIM, select the SIM you’re to do the configuration on (MTN SIM).
After navigating to the phones network settings, locate the following sections below to do the necessary internet settings:
MTN network settings for MTN WEB
- Account Name: MTN WEB
- Port :
- Username:
- Password:
- Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
MTN network settings for MTN WAP
For feature phones (i.e WAP settings) do the following settings:
- Account Name: MTN WAP
- IP address (Proxy): 10.199.212.2
- Port: 9201
- Username: web
- Password: web
- Access point name (APN): web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
MTN Proxy settings
To check and know that you still have the right Proxy settings on your Smartphones, see the steps below:
- Go to Settings
- Navigate to Network & Internet
- Click on More Network or Mobile Network
- Click Access Point Name
- Click MTN GPRS or MTN WEB
- Remove (Delete) the Proxy IP address: 10.199.212.2
- Remove (Delete) the Port setting: 8080
- Then save changes and browse again

Tecno, Infinix, and Itel Smartphones
For Tecno, Infinix, Itel with Android operating system.
- Go to SETTINGS on your phone
- Click NETWORK & INTERNET
- Click MOBILE NETWORK
- Click on Preferred network type and select 4G network
iPhone (iOS)
- Go to SETTINGS and click MOBILE DATA
- Then click on MOBILE DATA OPTIONS
- Click on VOICE AND DATA
- Select and click LTE
Samsung (Android)
- Go to SETTINGS & click CONNECTIONS
- Click MOBILE NETWORKS
- Click NETWORK MODE & select LTE
VIVO (Android)
- Go to SETTINGS on your phone
- Click on DUAL SIM SETTINGS and MOBILE NETWORK
- Click on SIM CARD INFORMATION SETTINGS & change to 4G
GIONEE (Android)
- Go to SETTINGS on your phone
- Click MOBILE NETWORK
- Click CELLULAR NETWORK SETTINGS
- Click on PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE
- Select and click 4G NETWORK
OPPO (Android)
- Go to SETTINGS on your phone
- Click on DUAL SIM SETTINGS and MOBILE NETWORK
- Click on SIM CARD INFORMATION SETTINGS
- And change to 4G
