What is CAPMI all about?

CAPMI is an acronym that stands for Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation. It is a program built by NERC to ensure that customers get shipped and installed their prepaid meters within 45 days. The system also ensures the meter’s cost will be refunded in the form of credit units over a period not exceeding 36 months.

The IBEDC uses the CAPMI program, a special metering acquisition system developed by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to provide prepaid meters within 45 days to those applying for them under IBEDC.

• Visit the IBEDC sales office nearest to get a free form called IBEDC 74.

• Based on your option of prepaid meter, pay after collecting account information from the IBEDC Business Hub you visited, at either of the specified banks.
• Make a photocopy of the bank teller after making the payment, and add the photocopy to the IBEDC 74 form and return it for registration to the Business Center.
• Your building will be metered within 45 days as long as these measures were performed successfully.

MAP simply means Meter Asset Provider. They are companies that are authorized by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to procure and install prepaid meters according to the 2018 MAP regulation for customers of electricity distribution companies.
